Ways to Avoid Cabin Fever

by Lori Madden 05/26/2019

During certain times in the year, it might be less desirable to be outside, and we may find ourselves feeling stuck in the house. How do you get out and enjoy your community without having to be out of doors? One great way is to plug into your areas museums, galleries, and other local indoor attractions.

Months of discovering

Depending on who and where you are you may find it undesirable to be outside for even long enough to go from the building to the car during either winter or summer months, but that doesn't mean that you want to hibernate at home for the whole season! It can be during these times that you set out to discover your area's indoor attractions.

Museums of all shapes, types, and sizes

There are many kinds of museums, geared for a variety of audiences.Examples of museum types include science, art, oddities, auto, music, heritage, etc. In each of these categories there include sub-categories and focus on an equally varied range of folks from experts to families and everyone in between. Some museums have sponsorships making them free to the public while others offer specials that are meant to draw patrons in during certain times or days of the month.

Exhibition halls

Exhibitions can refer to art and usually move through and pop up at different times and places throughout the year. A lot of times exhibition halls will host a variety of shows or collections of businesses or ideas, that can be wide-ranging including anything from bridal, gun, RV, toys, and home and garden. The timing of a show coming together can correlate to when they are popular, like bridal and home and garden in the spring. Although shows typically charge admittance, they can give a wealth of ideas, chances to meet folks and opportunities to become aware of local professionals to fill your needs when the time comes.

Aquariums

With such a wide array of sea creatures, you can usually find an indoor aquarium without traveling too far. These can be delightful places to enjoy no matter the weather outside and give you a chance to tour the globe with its beautiful colors and lively creatures right from your backyard.

Seek a professional’s help preventing the not so inevitable fever

Ask your local real estate agent for a list of local indoor attractions that they have put together and inoculate yourself from the dreaded cabin fever. You never know if you may find your favorite new place to visit time after time.

As a Florida native growing up in Sarasota, I have seen my hometown grow from a sleepy coastal town to a highly sought-after destination along the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. After working in Chicago for 5 years, I returned to Sarasota and saw it through a new lens and really began to appreciate what makes Sarasota so desirable, including temperatures that allow for year round outdoor activities including tennis (a personal favorite), golf, boating, kayaking, fishing, paddle boarding, or just relaxing and/or shelling on our pristine sandy shores, including Dr. Beach’s #1 beach in the United States for 2017, Siesta Key! Sarasota’s cultural amenities are many and diverse, appealing to a wide range of arts lovers. Downtown Sarasota has become a destination in itself, drawing many new developments for those who want to be within walking distance of Main Street's offerings and the picturesque bayfront and marina. Foodies will find an eclectic mix of locally owned and operated restaurants offering something for everyone, and there are now Farmers Markets every day of the week in various locations throughout Sarasota, but the Saturday morning Farmers Market in downtown Sarasota draws the biggest crowds. Since 1988, my passion has been selling real estate, representing both buyers and sellers. I have been recognized by my clients and customers for an uncompromising work ethic and dedication to helping them achieve their real estate goals. Relying on my experience as a real estate paralegal and being highly organized, I am able to help make the transition between contract and closing a smooth one for my clients. With an eye for interior and landscape design, I've been known to pitch in and help Sellers minimize and/or reorganize their belongings in order to stage their home to maximize its sale potential. I specialize in out of state buyers looking for their piece of paradise along the Gulf Coast and make it a priority to keep them up to date on our quickly changing local real estate market. I welcome the opportunity to share with you all Sarasota and her surrounding islands have to offer!
